It's really easy - just follow these steps

Step 1

Register to become a member of chemtuts.com. It's quick (about 30 seconds) and free for life. You will be sent an automatic email containing the login information you need to access MyDesk.

If you have registered previously there is no need to do it again.

Step 2

MyDesk is your space in this website (that's right it is reserved only for you) where you get personal access to free chemistry resources ('Other Chemistry Resources'), nine study guides (including extensive sets of quizzes) and nine NCEA exam paper libraries (2015-2023 inclusive).

There is a small annual fee to unlock each study guide and exam paper library. Click on the 'pricing-2' tab inside MyDesk to get started. See below for details.

Everything is 100% online and is availabile at anytime from anywhere.

These resources, which are being constantly enhanced on a daily basis, will give you a no-nonsense pathway to understanding the chemistry needed to pass your NCEA external exams.

MyDesk also holds a summary of your personal profile information provided at Step 1. You can change some parts of your profile at any time. These changes will be confirmed in an automatic email.

Step 3

Start using the free stuff ('Other Chemistry Resources') and your online study guides and exam paper libraries

These Levels 1,2 and 3 NCEA Chemistry resources will give you a no-nonsense pathway to understanding the chemistry needed to pass your NCEA external exams with an 'excellence'. It is now up to you.

Note: All Level 1 achievement standards (Carbon Chemistry, Elements, and Chemical Reactions) expired at the end of 2023. They have been replaced by other achievement standards starting 2024. We are redeveloping our Level 1 content to cover the new AS92021 and AS92023 achievement standards.

About This Website

The chemtuts.com website is divided into two areas - public and members-only.

Public area

The public area is made up of the home page, the pages detailing the table of contents for each of the study guides and quizzes, the pricing information and our legal and operational declarations. This content is available to everyone.

Members-only area

The MyDesk area contains all of the educational content. This includes all of the chemistry study guides, quizzes, exam paper libraries and also some free content ('Other Chemistry Resources') which is being expanded from time to time.

online learning

The members-only area is only accessible after becoming a registered member of chemtuts.com.

Registration is completely free. There are no strings attached. We provide you with a username and password which gives you access into the MyDesk area.

Membership gives you access to the online study guides and associated quizzes and the exam paper libraries for the current calendar year.

After that, you can select other study guides and exam paper libraries in subsequent years, if you wish.

As a registered member, you may recieve ocassional emails highlighting any significant updates to the website. You can unsubscibe from these mails at anytime. We know how frustrating emails can be, so the frequency of our emails will be limited.

Pricing & Purchasing

Once you are logged-in to MyDesk, you can purchase access to any of the study guides (quizzes included) shopping_cart and exam paper libraries. Click on the 'pricing-2' tab to get started. The associated quizzes, which are extensive and being added to on a regular basis, are provided at no extra cost. We have worked hard to keep the cost of these resources as low and as competitive as possible. Access to each Level 2 and Level 3 study guide and exam paper library is $NZ10.00 for up to one calendar year. Access to each Level 1 study guide and exam paper library is $NZ3.00. Access to these resources runs from 1 January to 31 December each year.

Making a payment is straight forward. The PayPal link gives you two payment choices - either pay using a PayPal account or pay using a credit or debit card. You do not need to own a PayPal account to use a credit or debit card.

There are no hidden fees

With Chemtuts.com you'll never pay for anything other than the fee to use each study guide and exam paper library of your choice. There is no membership fee or sign-up fee, you simply pay for what you need. That's it.

Accessing the Study Guides and Exam Paper Libraries

To access the study guides and exam paper libraries , you first need to register to become a member of chemtuts.com (free) and then signup to the study guides and exam paper libraries of your choice. To access the study guides and exam paper libraries, login to MyDesk.

Once in your MyDesk space you access your unlocked study guides, quizzes and exam paper libraries separately. In addition you can also interactively flip between past NCEA exam questions and the theory in the associated study guide before checking your answers against the model answers provided.

Security

We treat website security seriously. With that in mind, the website comes with a two-step authourisation login. Part of this authorisation process includes using your birthdate as an 8-digit code (ddmmyyyy).

We also protect your financial transactions by using PayPal. Chemtuts.com does not store any financial records.

Your username and password should be kept safe and never shared with anyone else.

For your protection, and for the protection of other users, the website limits you to one login at a time.
